Our famous Lower Lode Loop

A very interesting two hour loop starting and finishing at The Lower Lode
Inn which includes two rivers, a canal and two locks. We begin by paddling up
the calm Severn through two locks onto the Tewkesbury canal. A few hundred
metres along we portage down onto the narrow winding Avon and back to where we
started. Great fun! Can also be done in reverse depending on conditions.

Suitable for beginners who are physically fit and confident in water. We’d
recommend completing a beginner’s lesson beforehand.

Suitable for 10yo and up, under 17yo need to be accompanied by an adult.   

Please note, this trip involves a 200 meter portage along the bank before
getting back onto the river.

The paddle will take place at The Lower Lode Inn, GL19 4RE be careful when using sat-nav as that post code will lead you to the opposite side of the river. Ensure you put the pub address in too. Google maps is usually ok but please double check it’s taking you to the West side of the river. The ferry from the west side is no longer operating.  There is always plenty of free parking but I’m sure the lovely landlady would appreciate you buying a drink. The food is good too!

I will be waiting for you on the grass slope to the left of the slipway, try to arrive 5-10 minutes early.
